We fielded three teams –The Wallingford Expats* - Chris and Sarah, both of whom live outside Wallingford, the Wallybees – Thérèse and Gerry - 2 bees from Petanque Wallingford and The Tirrold Tigers: Kevin and Biggi who took their name from the village of Aston Tirrold where Petanque Wallingford plays on Weekends. Kevin stepped in at the last minute because Mike, who was due to be the other half of the Tigers, was indisposed. Thanks Kevin, and get well soon Mike. (*Sarah and Chris wore T-shirts that said 'Eagles' and wanted to change their name to the Wallingford Eagles. Paul had already done the admin, but he agreed to change their name on the final writeup – That's why you see Wallingford Eagles below).
The Burnham Pétanque Club hosted the tournament on their challenging (for us at any rate!) 9-piste terrain.
Paul Webb was the Organiser, Mark Blackall (the TVPA President) was the umpire and Alex's little dog did a bang-up job to make us feel welcome. Eighteen teams competed in this event of 5 games playing to 13 points each.
We did pretty well, all things considered, although we only won one game – thanks Tigers!
