With a mix of experience in the team a wide range of Petanque-related subjects were covered from the very basics of holding and throwing the ball to more advance elements of tactical play.
After lunch and hot drinks from the bar in the clubhouse the afternoon was spent playing games in pairs as entered for the Doubles event in Perth. For some pairs this was one of the few sessions where they were able to play with their Doubles partner before the competition. I am sure many of our club regulars who were playing on the shelter end pistes were aware how much they were enjoying themselves on our Boulodrome from the cheers and laughter coming from the far end of the terrain we use for our league matches.
When all club members had finished their session we moved onto Brighton Beach to give everyone an appreciation of how different a gravel surface can be to play on. We also had a shooting session, something few of the team had attempted to do when actually playing. Some surprisingly good shooting was quite inspiring for many who had felt it was only for very advanced players.
Wishing the team every success in Australia and hoping they win loads of medals.
