From the French:
Thank you very much for organising the French/English match on Boxing Day. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and in spite of total defeat it was much enjoyed and one of the highlights of Christmas. You can be sure there will be some practising going on during the year. Not sure they expected such a professional opposition – maybe they will bring a stronger team next time. Amanda was intrigued with some of the play – convinced that your ladies had magnets in their pockets – so clever to spin the boule. Roger is quite tempted to come to one of your days – he has 6 weeks of writing ahead of him so would be a brilliant way of getting him out of the house every now and again – such a shame he did not join with his great friend Nick.
To give us all lunch on top of everything was amazing and soup, cheese & bread (and cake) perfect as a warm up and time to chat.
And from the Brits:
We hugely enjoyed the day; it was everything that petanque brings to a group of friends - companionship, laughter, and the fun of easy-going competition. 'Winning' the match was nothing; winning the friendship of you all, and the prospect of a possible return match - whenever that may be- was everything. Nick would have loved the day, I am sure. Roger (who played for the French) will be welcome at PW; and Romain needs to get the boys playing....! We thought they would put us to the sword!
