The next meeting of all the clubs will be the Burnham Open on Sunday 29th May and PW hopes to play on Spring Bank Holiday Monday 30th May.
Still shaking my head in wonder – PW is still second in the Thames Valley Sunday Leagues after week 8 – much to our amazement. A good result – The Red Kites beat British Legion by 6 games to 1 (two were very close 13-12) and by 83 shots to 58. We had amazing weather – initially forecast as wet, but nice and sunny in the end, and some lovely games. They are a super crowd. We have yet to meet the Burnham Petanque club at their place and they will no doubt beat PW! But we will do our best.

This was supposed to be Play for the President's Trophy but the newcomers were going to play with us so the Members Only clubmatch has been postponed - we will play later in the year.
We all met at 6.15 for a 6.30 start. The sky was black and rain was forecast. But it has so often not materialised, we lived in hope and started the game anyway. 24 People turned up including 6 new comers. We got about halfway through the first game and the ICY rain came down in ernest! So we abondonned ship packed up all our stuff and will play the melee next Wednesday Clubnight. Yesterday 29th April, was a really funny day - it started off sunny, then we had a few drops of rain, sun again, then sleet, sun and finally really savage sleet that stung our faces! For us madcaps this was just to much and we had played 2 games anyway, so, frozen, we called it a day! Hoping for better weather on Sunday for the Weekend League match! Red Herrings are playing Burnham Eagles ... at home. We will all play tomorrow (Monday 2nd May), being a Bank Holiday (May Day) and with a bit of luck will have a nice sunny day! |
