Three of the 'senior management' came along (wives of players) which was very nice to see and it was a great opportunity for all of us to have a chat, rather than the usual hurried chats between throws on the petanque pistes.
(The publicans' daughter had been taken ill in the morning and was rushed off to hospital, but reinforcements were called in and it was 'business as usual' - very gratifying to us, as everything went smoothly and we all had a good time. We hope the little girl gets better soon, and we will no doubt have lunch there again.)
Our next 'lunchtime' outing may be The Jolly Farmer at Hurst for the Thursday Melee. If the weather holds (you will gather by now, we are not keen to play in the rain, although some people think it is obligatory to play in the rain) we hope to field at least 3 people. Then we will have lunch and more play after. Hold Thumbs.
And see you all on Sunday at the Bash in the Regal and Wallingford Market Place. We need to raise quite a bit of money to build our new pistes, so lets hope for good weather and lots of visitors.
