The main ones are we are all to wear FULLY ENCLOSED shoes - crocs are no longer acceptable (so good bye to my red ones) and goodbye to 3 goes to get the cochennets in the right place! We are only allowed one now. And we MUST MARK the circle. You can read the rules showing the changes in blue, by Mercia Petanque on this link until we get our act together. The rules, unhighlighted, are on the EPA website too.
HELLO ALL, the rules to our favourite sport have changed. Make sure you read them! We will publish our booklet as soon as possible so you are aware of all the changes.

Steve Gothard, one of our hardy members, goes swimming at Didcot regularly and undertook to ’swim the channel’ in Didcot pool – I.e. Go the distance of 21 miles (that is how far it is from Dover to Calais). He completed the distance on Friday, so Chris S, Mike and Thérèse, the new Petqanque Wallingford coaches donated their coaching fee from the TVPA to Aspire the charity that he was doing the swim for. He did a lap of honour in Calais harbour :) because he did 22 miles! Well done Steve for avoiding those boats and whale sharkes!
Here is a picture of him with the Aspire poster. He has raised his target of £150 (and beyond actually, with our donation it comes to a further £25). |
