Winter Pairs

The draw has now been made for the Winter Pairs (Licence holders). Everyone has been advised which league they are in and who they are playing against, and where. They play on the first Sunday of the month and the first match is 1st October 2017.

PW is entering 7 pairs and the first round is played by all at Burnham
The pairs are:

The Kites (Peter S & Dave C)
Red Roses (Chris S & Sarah)

League 3

EUROCUP 2nd Round

The Thames Valley only entered two teams in the Eurocup for Clubs competition - Petanque Wallingford and Winnersh & Wokingham Wanderers.

The first round was played against Winnersh and PW won. The second round was played on the 24th September 2017 at Oxshott against them and we lost. So Oxshott now play Hereford or Nomades. To see the draw click here.

Hayling Island

The Inter Regional Competition was held at Hayling Island on the weekend of 16/17 September. Eight teams from the Thames Valley region who had qualified for the Championship matches and 4 teams for the Challenge, took part with over 900 people from all over England and Wales. Thames Valley didn't do very well finishing bottom of Division 2 in each competition. However, within the Thames Valley Group Mark Dowman, Chris Hurst and Chris Shaw came third winning seven of their 12 matches. See the detailed breakdown here.

Our next event:
PW played the first round of the Eurocup for Clubs against Winnersh and won. They next meet Oxshott on Sunday 24th September.

Open Day and Triples

We had our open day in August but this was not as well supported as we hoped - many people were away. Better luck next year. However, the dotty cup trophy was won by Christian from Winnersh, 2nd place went to our Steve and 3rd and 4th places were taken by Eric and Maureen from MTTA.

The last clubnight in August was our Triples Match, and the dotty cups were won by Dave C, Gerry and Thérèse

Select Pairs

August saw us play for the final of the Select Pairs Trophy. 14 Pairs, split into 2 groups had taken place during the previous months. The Winners of group 1 were Tie-Breakers - JJ and Tony M and second were the Mac Macs - Eileen and John. Group A winners were Rookie-ish – Mark D and Chris H and second were Black Berets – Adrian and Sarah. Tie-Breakers played the Mac Macs and Tie Breakers won, Rookie-ish played Black Berets and Rookie-ish won. So the final play off was Rookie-ish vs Tie-Breakers to find the Select Pairs winners, who were Rookie-ish. (L to R Mark, Gerry Chris H)
