Twenty people turned out to play for the 1st President's Trophies, our first club match of the year. We were blessed with a fine day, not cold and not windy, so we were all in a good mood. Also, we had decided to donate all the playing fees plus any donations to Sports Relief. Members were generous and the total donation was some £230. Some people used the JustGiging Link and did Gift Aid, but others donated cash when they signed to play. Everyone was there in plenty of time, so we started at 11.00 sharp. We played three timed games. Towards the end of the third game the wind got up and came in straight from the Arctic, complete with bits of ice. Fortunately the sleet only lasted for a few seconds, but the rain and wind were jolly cold. However, we all adjourned to our shelter to find out who had won the trophies. They were, for the ladies - Valerie Smith and for the Gents - Chris McGuire. Well done all, and thanks for your donations!
