The object of the qualifiers is to find 12 teams to represent the TV Region at the Inter-Regionals in Hayling Island in September. The teams all registered between 9.15 and 9.45, had the obligatory bacon bap and play started at 10 am sharp – a long day was in store for them all. Luckily they had a nice day!
PW played their first two games and lost, not badly, but lost nonetheless! Then they had a bye, so a chance of a nice rest and time to refuel the batteries. However, they did not hold out much hope of qualifying, so felt a bit miserable.
However, after the bye and lunch, PW played 2 more games and won them both against strong opposition. Nothing beats a good bit of team-talk and lunch! Overall the PW team came 7th out of the 15 so not a bad result after all.
But. Many a slip twix cup and lip, as they say. They have 2 more matches to play now, and they have yet to meet the 'top' players ….
The pictures show the teams 'warming up' - some of the other teams find the PW Boulodrome quite difficult – it looks smooth and very flat but in fact it has many hills and valleys and hidden stones! Then L the PW Secretary/coach took some pictures of everyone in full swing. Roll on the next games at Marlow and Arborfield.
